Robert of St. Albans was an English Templar who arrived in the Holy Land with zeal in his eyes and enthusiasm in his heart to fight the Muslims. However, shortly after encountering the local Muslims and learning about Islฤm, its customs, and values, he could not resist embracing the religion of Islฤm.

Robert’s conversion to Islฤm caused significant shock and dismay among the Christian Crusaders, leading to ill will and a decline in morale among the Templars in general. After accepting Islฤm, he was enlisted in Sultฤn แนขalฤแธฅ ud-Dฤซn al-Ayyลซbฤซ’s army and appointed as a general, leading a division in the decisive Battle of แธคaแนญแนญฤซn, in 1187. He also participated in the siege and recapture of Jerusalem from the Christian Crusaders.

In recognition of his brave deeds, Sultฤn แนขalฤแธฅ ud-Dฤซn al-Ayyลซbฤซ granted him permission to marry the Sultฤn’s niece. However, Allฤh had different plans, as Robert was destined to return to Allฤh shortly after the recapture of Jerusalem. #History
