One day, Imฤm al-A’dham Abลซ แธคanฤซfa was in the Wudลซ area of the Jฤmi’ah Masjid in Kลซfah, ‘Irฤq. He saw a young man performing Wudลซ and drops of water were trickling from his body. The Imฤm said: โ€œSon! Repent of disobeying your parents.โ€ The young man instantly replied: โ€œI repent.โ€

The Imฤm then saw drops of water dripping from the body of another person. He said: โ€œO brother! Repent from fornication.โ€ The man replied: โ€œI repent.โ€

The Imฤm then saw drops of water dripping from a third person and said: โ€œRepent of taking wine and listening to music.โ€ He replied: โ€œI repent.โ€

Our noble Imฤm had been given the power of Kashf (spiritual insight) and was able to see faults of other people. He prayed to Allฤh to take back this faculty of intuition from him. Allฤh answered his prayer and henceforth he could no longer see the sins of people being washed away during Wudลซ (ablution).
