The Messenger of Allaฬ„h ๏ทบ said: โ€œThree people will fight over your treasure, all three will be sons of Khulafaฬ„โ€™ (kings). [Declared Sahฬฃiฬ„hฬฃ by al-Bazzaฬ„r, al-Hฬฃaฬ„kim on conditions of Bukhaฬ„riฬ„ and Muslim, Ibn Kathiฬ„r, al-Qurtubiฬ„ etc]

Hฬฃaฬ„fidh Ibn Kathiฬ„r expounds on this narration: โ€œThe people in the east will support Imaฬ„m al-Mahdiฬ„. They will establish his rule and strengthen it. Their flags will be blackโ€ฆ Because the Prophetโ€™s ๏ทบ flag was also black which was called โ€˜Al-Iqฤbโ€™. In summary, Imaฬ„m al-Mahdiฬ„ Mamdลซh, the Awaited of the End Times, will appear and emerge first in the east and his pledge will (later) be taken in the House of Allaฬ„h (Kaโ€™bah). The text of the hฬฃadiฬ„th proves this.โ€

[Al-Nihaฬ„ya fiฬ„ l-Fitn wa l-Malaฬ„hฬฃim]

The narration reveals that Imaฬ„m al-Mahdiฬ„’s army will hail from Khoraฬ„saฬ„n, ๐š ๐ซ๐ž๐ ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ง๐จ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐จ๐ฐ๐ง๐ž๐ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐›๐ž๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐ฐ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐œ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐Œ๐šฬ„๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซฤซ๐ฤซ ๐’๐ฎฬ„๐Ÿฤซ๐ฌ. This reinforces the notion that Imaฬ„m al-Mahdiฬ„ will have the direct support of Ahl al-Sunnah. Additionally, the narrations inform us that there will be a bay’ah given to Imaฬ„m Mahdiฬ„ at Allaฬ„h’s house. This begs the question of who precisely will give the bay’ah to Imaฬ„m al-Mahdiฬ„? Let us take a look at it.

The Messenger of Allaฬ„h ๏ทบ said: โ€œDisagreement will occur at the death of a caliph and a man of the people of Madiฬ„na will come flying forth to Makkah. Some of the people of Makkah will come to him, bring him out against his will and swear allegiance to him between the Corner and the Maqaฬ„m. An expeditionary force will then be sent against him from Syria but will be swallowed up in the desert between Makkah and Madiฬ„na.

Once again, we see that the individuals who will recognize Imaฬ„m al-Mahdiฬ„ during Tawaฬ„f and pledge their allegiance to him will be the Abdaฬ„l, who are high-ranking Awliyaฬ„โ€™ from Syria, as well as the most elevated people from Iraq. This is corroborated by ahฬฃaฬ„diฬ„th which state that specially ranked Awliyaฬ„โ€™ also exist in Iraq. This has been the case since the Salaf us-Saฬ„lihฬฃ and has persisted to this day, with no evidence of any kind of innovations being infiltrated in the society, al-hฬฃamdu li Llaฬ„h! The virtues of the Abdaฬ„l from Syria are mentioned in ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜บ ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜จ๐˜ฉ ๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ด ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ด ๐˜ฐ๐˜ง ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ, such as the following:

Sayyidunaฬ„ โ€˜Aliฬ„ ibn Abiฬ„ Taฬ„lib stated that he heard Rasuฬ„lullaฬ„h ๏ทบ say: โ€œThe Abdฤl are in Syria, and they are 40 men. Whenever one of them dies, Allaฬ„h substitutes another in his place. By means of them, Allaฬ„h brings down the rain, gives victory over enemies, and diverts punishment from the people of Syria.โ€ [Musnad Ahฬฃmad and others]

Interestingly enough, in Suฬ„fiฬ„ epistemology, one of the greatest Awliyaฬ„โ€™ who needs no introduction is Imaฬ„m Rabbaฬ„niฬ„ Mujaddid Alf al-Thฤniฬ„ Shaykh Ahฬฃmad al-Faฬ„ruฬ„qiฬ„ al-Sirhindiฬ„, who was foretold by the Prophet ๏ทบ as being the Sillah (connection between Shariฬ„โ€™ah and Tasawwuf) and even praised by Ghawth al-Aโ€™dham Shaykh โ€˜Abd al-Qaฬ„dir al-Jiฬ„laฬ„niฬ„ hundreds of years before his birth. He stated through his Kashf and magnificent Ilhaฬ„m that:

“The Promised Hฬฃadrat Imaฬ„m al-Mahdiฬ„ will be appointed for the perfection of Wilaฬ„yah (Sainthood).

This is because all other paths are below this path as other paths have received a relatively lesser share from the perfections of Nabuwwah (prophethood).

This path, due to being connected to Hฬฃadrat Abuฬ„ Bakr as-Siddiฬ„q, has a greater share of these perfections as has been explained previously.”

[Maktubaฬ„t Imaฬ„m Rabbaฬ„niฬ„, Vol. 1, Letter 251]

In light of the aforementioned evidence, it should now be clear to everyone who the people will be to assist Imaฬ„m al-Mahdiฬ„ both militarily and spiritually. And this should also serve as a reminder to all that it should not escape our notice if he, in addition to being considered an enemy by the Western world, also becomes excommunicated and degraded by various sects (Ahl al-Bid’ah) due to his affiliation with Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l Jamaฬ„’ah. This message should be conveyed to future generations so that they know which camp to stand with, where they will be in a time of confusion and great turmoil (fitnah).
