Woman Finds Maintenance Worker In Basement Trying To Build DIY Tombstone For His Father

For decades, Denise Lauffer has been caring for homeless animals in New York City. The passionate dog walker spends her free time rescuing and rehoming stray animals.

For about a year, Denise has been providing care and shelter for homeless dogs and cats out of the makeshift animal sanctuary in her building’s basement, complete with natural light and play areas.

Recently, Denise made a very unexpected discovery went she went down to the basement to visit with her furry friends.

A group of the building’s maintenance men were working on a project… they were trying to make a tombstone.

Down on their hands and knees, Denise found Dionny Acosta and his co-workers attempting to create a headstone in the shape of a cross using cement and wood.

The makeshift headstone was for Dionny’s beloved father who passed away in April 2020.

The maintenance man had already tried to make the tombstone earlier that day, but it had crumbled to pieces. So, he tried again.

Denise was blown away by what she was witnessing. However, she wasn’t sure if their DIY tombstone would survive the elements outside. She also knew money was scarce.

Still, Denise was determined to help Dionny properly say his final goodbyes to his father — so she took action in a huge way…
