Candice Benbow of New Jersey spent many nights awake at the hands of her neighbor, who’d blast his loud music into the early morning hours and keep her awake.
It wasn’t always a nuisance, though. Sometimes he’d play new songs she’d never heard before and she’d add them to her own playlist.
But before Candice ever met her noisy neighbor face-to-face, he pushed her to the limit with another sleepless night. So, she stayed up documenting her interrupted sleep and vented on Twitter:
“At 3:26, I couldn’t tell if you were playing some uptempo hits from The Weeknd or you pushed shuffle on some house/techno. Either way, I could’ve done without that part of the set.”
“At 3:47, I decided it was much more advantageous to reflect on your musical tastes and eat potato chips than try to sleep.”
And so, Candice decided enough was enough; it was time to take action. But she didn’t call the cops. And she didn’t bang on his door to confront him.
Candice wrote her mystery neighbor a letter instead, and accompanied it with a homemade cake she baked at 3:30 in the morning.
Days later, after delivering the cake (and finally meeting him in person), Candice revealed the heartbreaking truth about her neighbor — and how it led to a very unexpected friendship.
