‘Who’s the Boss’ Fans Hope Danny Pintauro Will Return for the Reboot

If you need a brush-up on Who’s the Boss, it was a wholesome family sitcom that ran on ABC from 1984 to 1992, and was nominated for 10 Emmys and five Golden Globes Awards. It delves into the life of Tony Micelli, a single father to Samantha, who ends his professional baseball career to become a housekeeper for a wealthy advertising executive named Angela Bower (played by Judith Light) and her son, Jonathan (played by Danny Pintauro).

The reboot will take place a full 30 years after the finale, as it’s been deemed a sequel to the original series. It’s going to hone in on Tony’s exciting life in retirement, as well as the life of his daughter, who is now a single mother living in her childhood home. Like the original series, it will delve into themes of family dynamics, differing parenting styles, gender roles, and stereotypes. And, chances are, it’ll make you cry.

Tony announced the news first on Instagram, by posting photos from the original series, writing: “Very excited to bring Who’s The Boss back to television! #whostheboss.” Then, shortly after, Alyssa tweeted the news.

“I AM SO EXCITED! #WhosTheBoss is coming back!!! I’ve wanted to share this for so long and now I can! We feel the time is right to tell the story of where these amazing characters are today. Can’t wait to share their stories with you. So happy.”
