SHEIKH EDEBALI the father of BALA HATUN and the AHI’s had an active mission during the establishment and development period of the OTTOMAN BEYILIK. OSMAN BEY’’S leading personality ,his mission and the reception of the title GHAZI make him relate to the AHI CIRCLES.
Indeed his father in law SHIEKH EDEBALI was an AHI SAINT . N ERGIN ( of the faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern studies ) states that the SWORD OF OSMAN ,was an important sword of state used during enthronement ceremonies .The practice started when Osman was girted with the “ SWORD OF ISLAM “ , by his father in law and mentor Sheikh Edebali.
The newly enthroned Sultans in future were thus linked to their ancestry and to the prophet Muhammad. (It was the Ottomon variant of a “ Bahyah”( oath of allegiance to a leader , practiced by the prophet Pbuh himself).
In conclusion the significance of Osman’s dream which stands at the centre of all research , Sheikh Edebali’s explanation , his immediate response by willing to tie his daughter in matrimony for a great cause ….was overturned to present a story with Osman doing a Bollywood style dance , with the venerable sheikh in attendance and presenting the Sheikh’s daughter as a Rom Com Cinderella … because of infertility , of which there is no historical proof .
