When Her Nuptials Were Canceled, This Woman Decided To Wear Her Wedding Dress To A Tomato Fight

A canceled wedding might sound like a depressing tragedy to some. One Pennsylvania woman found a cathartic and creative way to cope after her wedding didn’t pan out. Katlin Evans was supposed to be getting married the day of the Pittson Tomato Festival. When the wedding got canceled, a great idea involving her wedding dress spawned an unforgettable moment.

“One of my girlfriends said, ‘Well I already had the day off, maybe I’ll go to the tomato festival.’ And I said, ‘Well I never went.’ And then we said well we see those ‘wreck the dress’ things all the time, and I had an extra laying around,” Katlin told WNEP.

Sure enough, Katlin and her friends and family attended the festival. Katlin got the wedding dress on and strapped on some goggles. She was ready to get some frustration out and participate in the festival’s tomato fight.

“My girlfriends and my family rallied and said let’s go do something fun because I was supposed to get married today, so what better way to have fun than throw tomatoes at strangers?” Katlin told reporters.

While the dress she trashed wasn’t the one Katlin would have worn on the big day, it was a backup dress that she intended to sell. Instead, she found a fun-filled way to celebrate her independence and bid farewell to that bit of her past.
