Valerie Harper’s Husband Reveals The Iconic Actress Doesn’t Have Much Longer To Live

Valerie Harper’s husband revealed that she is nearing the end of her days.

Valerie and her husband, Tony Cacciotti, have been married for 32 years. In 2009, Valerie was diagnosed with cancer for the first time. Her battle has been ongoing since then, and in 2013, she announced that she had only three to six months left to live.

The beloved Mary Tyler Moore Show actress went on to defy the odds, though. Determined to fight her illness, she even appeared on television and film in the seven years since that announcement.

Now she’s 79 years old, and it appears that the end is near. Tony announced the news in an emotional Facebook post on Tuesday.

He wrote that doctors say Valerie should be placed in hospice care. Hospice care is usually recommended when a person is expected to live six months or less.

“I have been told by doctors to put Val in hospice care and I can’t,” Tony wrote. “As long as the powers above allow us, I will do my very best in making Val as comfortable as possible.”

Tony explained that he was hesitant because of their 40 years of shared commitment and Valerie’s own “amazing good deeds.”

“For those of you who have been in this position, you will totally understand that ‘it’s hard letting go,’” he said. “So as long as I’m able and capable, I’ll be where I belong right beside her.”
