The life of Osman Bey, the founder of the Ottoman Empire, in brief……

The life of Osman Bey, the founder of the Ottoman Empire, in brief…

Osman Bey, **the founder of the Ottoman Empire** , was born in **1258 in Söğüt** . His father is **Ertuğrul Gazi** and his mother is **Halime Hatun** . Osman Bey was tall, round-faced, dark-skinned, hazel-eyed and thick-muscled. His shoulders were quite wide, and the upper part of his body was longer than the lower part. He wore a Chagatai style Khorasan crown made of red broadcloth on his head. His inner and outer garments were wide sleeved.
.

Osman Bey was a valuable statesman. He was honest, cautious, courageous, generous and just. He loved to feed the poor and clothe them. Whoever looked at the dress he was wearing would have taken it off immediately and given it to him. Every afternoon, he would give a feast to whoever was in his house.
.
Osman Bey was only 23 years old when he became the ruler of **Kayı Boyu (Tribe) in Sögüt in 1281. **He was very adept at riding horses, wielding swords, and fighting. His son, Orhan Bey, who would later become the head of the Ottoman State, was born from his marriage to **Mal Hatun .
.
He founded the Ottoman Empire in 1299**
.
## **He won the Battles of Domaniç** and **Koyunhisar** with Eastern Rome. He conquered **Kulucahisar, Karacahisar, Bilecik, Yarhisar, İnegöl, Yenişehir and Mudurnu
.
Lefke, Mekece, Akhisar, Geyve, Gölpazarı and Leblebici** castles in the Sakarya River valley
.
Osman Gazi, the founder of the Ottoman Empire, whose foundations were laid in Sögüt and which will rule over a period of 600 years and on three continents, passed away in **Bursa in 1326 from Nikris (goutte) disease.
.
His children names are:
**Pazarlı Bey,
Çoban Bey,
Hamid Bey,
Orhan Bey,
Alaeddin Ali Bey,
Melik Bey,
Savcı Bey.

And Fatma Hatun.
.
The Osmanoğulları (Family of Osman bey) are from the Kayı tribe of the Oghuz Turks who migrated from Central Asia to Anatolia.
.
His father , **Ertuğrul Gazi , took his teacher and mentor Sheikh Edebali as a guide** throughout his life and became a perfect bey with his spiritual upbringing. For this reason, he very much wanted his son (Osman) to grow up under his education. Osman Gazi also frequently visited His Holiness Edebali and received his prayers.
.
**Muhyiddin İbnül Arabi** had given the good news of the Ottoman Empire 70 years before the establishment of the Ottoman State.
.
He derived this from the verses of the Qur’an with ilm-i cifir, and moreover, the name of his work was **”ed-Dâiratü’n-Nu’mâniyye fi’d-Devleti’l-Osmâniyye”** when even the Ottoman principality was not yet in sight.
.
In addition, there are some events in this work, such as that the first caliph from the Osmanoğulları (Osmans DECENDANTS) will be Yavuz Sultan Selim Han.
.
With this and similar lofty glad tidings, the flag raised by the Ottoman Empire rose under the shadow of the spiritual wings of the great saints.
.
The believing people of Anatolia, who were depressed as a result of the raging invasion of the Mongols full of cruelty, came to peace by running under the wings of the people of the heart who are friends of Allah; revived and resurrected.
.
Otherwise, the whole of Anatolia faced the danger of losing its spiritual identity. Because the advance of the Mongols, an idolatrous tribe, to the west, defeating the strongest armies of Islam, made the Anatolian people sad and even hopeless.
.
So much so that, with great boredom, signs of detachment from its essence began to appear and Mongolian customs, traditions and lifestyles began to come into fashion.

**Here, the Ottomans were able to say “stop”** to this deplorable situation by heart to heart with **the Edebali line** , and until that moment they were in the experience and realization that the defeats were the result of denial of truth or a test. He announced to his subjects that the believers, who are blessed with Allah’s confirmation, would be prosperous and victorious again.
.
The fact that the Ottomans did not get involved in the useless conflicts between the Turkish Anatolian principalities and proceeded to the west with the spirit of conquest and waged jihad created an unshakable halo of oneness around [Osman](https://www.islamveihsan.com/?s=osman%20gazi) Gazi , as he showed the sincerity in this announcement and suggestion.
.
**Everyone who was conscious of the fact that the purpose of I’la-ı kalimatullah** was a command of Islam for him rushed under the holy flag that He opened. **At that time, the ulema and umera of the Seljuks** , who were dispersed by the Mongol invasion, came to Osman Gazi and gave him allegiance. The favor of the last Seljuk Sultan to Osman Gazi also played a role in this. He told Osman Gazi:

**“–Osman Ghazi, the son! You have many signs of happiness. There is no answer for you and your descendants in the world. My prayers, the grace of Allah, the miracles of the Prophet and the patronage of the saints are with you.” **he complimented him and sent him a tug, alem, a sword and an edict due to his success and efforts in the way of Allah.
.
The most striking feature of **Osman Gazi’s period is that he established the foundation of the state on spiritual and permanent principles. **Around him, there were special people who had knowledge, belief and wisdom such as His Holiness Edebali, Sheikh Mahmut, Dursun Fakıh, Kâsım Karahisari, Sheikh Muhlis Karamani, Âşık Paşa, Elvan Çelebi.
.
Spirituality was so important in the state structure that Osman Gazi’s principality was confirmed by Dursun Fakıh’s sermon in Friday prayer after the conquest of Karacahisar Castle in 1299.
.
Ertugrul Gazi’s last will to his son Osman:
**“Look, Son!**

**Hurt me, don’t hurt Sheikh Edebali!**

**He is the spiritual sun of our tribe. His balance is dirham!**

**Go against me, don’t go against him! If you disobey me, I will be sad and hurt; If you go against him, my eyes will not look at you, even if he does, he will not see!**

**Our word is not for Edebali, but for our sence! Consider this my will!..”**

.
Edebali brought Osman Gazi, who was a very active young man, under his care and discipline, made him taste the pleasure of knowing Allah, and brought him good morals, altruism, sobriety and maturity. Thus, he prepared him for the sultan of a world-wide state.
.
The real architect of the Ottoman Empire is Sheikh Edebali. While there were dissolutions in other Turkish principalities because there was no Sheikh Edebali , **the Ottoman Principality** rose to the state and from the state **to the domination of the world in a short time. .
.
**The Ottoman Empire introduced the world to Islam for 600years, distributed justice and became the balance of right.
.
Osman Gazi, who received a good religious and moral education, was a very religious and righteous bey. He was inclined towards the hereafter. He avoided things that were forbidden by religion. His whole purpose, **“fi sabilillah”,** was aimed at jihad. It is sai that he was a sweet-talking, affable person and did not get angry once in his lifetime. In addition to this, he was extremely capable in his good administration as an enterprise and power holder. He was a valiant veteran who knew no domination.
.
With the following statements about him, even the Christian historians were compelled to surrender the truth, not sacrificing the truth by respecting the dignity of science.
.
Historian Hammer says:

“The organization and fundamental foundations of the state he left were so strong that the Ottoman Empire became **the largest state in the world in a short time.
.
**Fard al-muhal to the people of his time: **”The grandchildren of this veteran will defeat many powerful states that come before him and bring Europe to its knees!”

**everyone who heard them said: “This is a dream; it is an empty tale!» he would say. However, Gazi and his surroundings, especially Sufi connoisseurs and scholars, believed in it wholeheartedly and worked tirelessly for this great event.”
.

Indeed, Osman Gazi and his valiants did not descend from horseback; They ran day and night. They developed, grew and multiplied rapidly. They became a fearful dream for Europe. They fought from 7 years old to 70 years in order to spread the loud voice of Islam to the world.

Lamartin says:

**“Osman Gazi’s natural talent was simple, correct and fair. By dedicating his mind and intelligence to the unity of Allah, he would try to discourage superstition and idolatry against the unity and existence of Allah on earth. However, he began to save and settle in the countries he had conquered, following the policy of the conquerors. Osman Gazi progressed slowly; but he never came back.”
.
**Gibbons says:

**“Osman Gazi is not the son of a Sultan. Although its lands are small and its subjects are few, its state has grown steadily from year to year. This uninterrupted growth, of course, indicates the true greatness of the genius that established it. The rulers of the Turkish nation, such as Atilla and Cengiz, remained raiders despite their dazzling victories, and their empire consisted of an unrepresented aimless conquest. They left only blood, pus and tears behind. Because they, as dry cihangir without ideals, were only burning and washing between the sounds of horns and trumpets. What Osman Gazi did and left behind was very different. For this reason, those behind them have always been at the forefront of representing and distributing rights and law, and their state has become the “state-i ebbed-müddet”. In that case, Osman Gazi’s position is”
.
**The personal property of Osman Gazi, who lived an exceptionally pious life, when he died, consisted of an armor, a pair of boots, a few banners, a sword, a spear, a few herds of horses, three herds of sheep and his peers.
