Stranded Man Credits Taco Bell With Saving His Life After Surviving Off ‘Fire Sauce’ For 5 Days

There are some stories that are truly stranger than fiction, and this one fits the bill. A man was traveling with his dog through Oregon when the snow left them stranded in their car.

Jeremy Taylor was traveling with his dog, Ally, when his 2000 Toyota 4Runner became stuck in the snow. He reasoned that if he just waited it out until the snow stopped, he’d be able to get his car moving. He awoke the next day to much more snow than he’d anticipated. Central Oregon was in the middle of a barrage of severe snowstorms.

It was five days before Jeremy’s car was finally spotted by a snowmobile rider on a service road 180 miles south of Portland. How did he manage to survive that long? Jeremy only periodically started his car to keep himself and Ally warm. When it came to food, he had to rely on a stash of Taco Bell “fire sauce” that was in the car. He rationed the sauce packets out for those five days until they were rescued.

“Jeremy and Ally were found to be in good condition but hungry after being stuck in the snow for five days,” said Sergeant William Bailey of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.

Jeremy is crediting that fire sauce with saving his life. He posted about his gratitude on Facebook.

“Thank you everyone, I’m safe my Ally dog is safe,” he wrote. “I really appreciate all the help. Got lucky, let’s never do that again.”

Many were fascinated by how Jeremy got by those few days. He responded to the comments by saying, “Taco Bell fire sauce saves lives!”
