Shaykh al-Akbar Ibn al-‘Arabī who passed away 50 years prior to the founding of the Ottoman Empire wrote that a man named Selim would conquer Damascus and find his resting place (which was hidden from people at that time). 300 years later, Sultān Selim l conquered Damascus, discovered Ibn al-‘Arabī’s body and built a tomb over it which still stands today.
