Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers for Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.

Fox’s newest reality competition series, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, pushes 16 celebrities outside of the comfort of their swanky mansions and elite lifestyles and drops them in the middle of the Jordanian desert. Hoping to survive 10 days of training, these recruits undergo real-life Special Ops exercises that are overseen by former military personnel, who are referred to as the Directing Staff.

Throughout the competition, the recruits are pushed to their limits both mentally and physically. On Day 8, former MLB star Mike Piazza decides to withdraw from the competition, telling his co-stars that he is physically drained. After the remaining five recruits complete the challenge, back at base camp, Olympic freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy falls ill.

What happened to Gus Kenworthy on ‘Special Forces’? Olympian is taken to the hospital for “life-threatening” reaction.

In Episode 8, titled “Courage,” Gus tells the DS that he put his numbered armband down on the ground and can no longer find it during a challenge. Remi Adeleke tells Gus that when they get back to base camp, he will have to “pay the man,” which means Gus will endure an additional physical task as a form of punishment for leaving his gear behind.

At the campsite, Remi tells Gus to get completely wet and cover his entire body in sand; then, the former pro athlete is told to do 20 burpees. After completing the task, Gus begins to feel ill. He tells former pro soccer star Carli Lloyd that he has a “horrible feeling in his chest,” and begins to violently vomit.

Taken to the medical tent, Gus tells the medic that he feels as though something is caught in his throat and his stomach feels tight. The Olympian says he feels like he’s suffering from an allergic reaction. While the medic can’t pinpoint what caused the reaction, the voiceover explains that because Gus has suffered a “life-threatening anaphylactic reaction,” he needs to be taken to the hospital in case of “rebound anaphylaxis.”

Therefore, Gus is forced to medically withdraw from the competition. Now, just four recruits remain — Hannah Brown, Carli Lloyd, Dwight Howard, and Danny Amendola.

A Fox News Host Is Shocked And Disappointed That Trump Might Be Calling Ron DeSantis ‘Meatball Ron’

0

Over the weekend, The New York Times claimed that Donald Trump was beta testing some of his patented childish nicknames for one of his likely 2024 rivals: Ron DeSantis. As you may recall, the first one he made public — “Ron DeSanctimonious” — was widely seen as not one of his better efforts. He could do better. Now maybe he has: The report said he was thinking of calling the Florida governor “Meatball Ron.” It’s mean, even for him, so much so that it upset one of his biggest cheerleaders, who’s disappointed the former president could stoop so low.

“I happen to like Meatballs,” tweeted Fox News host Mark Levin. “But this will turn off a lot of conservative voters. Not a wise move if true. I hope it’s not.”

If there’s one thing Trump has never done it’s come up with insulting nicknames for fellow Republicans. Like calling Marco Rubio “Little Marco.” Or Ted Cruz “Lyin’ Ted.” Or the racist name he awarded his former administration team member Elaine Chao (whose husband would still support him). He certainly didn’t get popular with GOP voters by being a schoolyard bully. In fact, going back to what worked before might be how he engineers a much-needed, much-feared comeback with conservative voters.

Trump has offered a vaguely worded denial that about the DeSantis nicknames, even while repeating his first poorly-received effort. But given how popular “Meatball Ron” was, even among Trump’s detractors, maybe he’ll bust out it at his next rambling rally.

29 Valentine’s Day Horror Stories

9.

“Last year, my partner at the time surprised me and said they were getting me tickets to see one of my favorite artists play a few days after Valentine’s as my gift. The week before the concert, they told me they didn’t have enough in their account for the tickets but would the day after the concert and asked if they could Venmo me for the tickets the day after. I ended up dropping $250 on tickets for the both of us, and they never paid me back.”

“On top of it, I had to work Valentine’s Day, and we had been planning on going to dinner, so I told them that planning would be up to them as I knew I had to work. They picked me up from work and asked me what I wanted to do, so we scrambled to find a restaurant after calling and driving to multiple places; we ended up getting takeout and sitting on opposite sides of their room while watching TV, which is what we did basically every other night. The cherry on top is that they chose to get takeout from a restaurant I hate and ignored me for most of the night. Worst Valentine’s ever.”

‘Arrested Development’ is leaving Netflix next month–even the 2 seasons it made

0

Arrested Development was one of Netflix’s early original TV success stories: A cult comedy canceled after three years, it found a second life after Netflix revived it and made two additional seasons. But Arrested Development’s long-running tenure on the streaming platform is about to end after plans for the series’ exit from Netflix emerged, a move that upset both show fans and people concerned about streaming originals being removed from the platforms that made them.

News that Arrested Development would leave Netflix on March 15 was first reported earlier this week, and when you look up Arrested Development on Netflix, a banner indicating the last day you can watch the series appears on the landing page. The removal isn’t just for the first three seasons that aired on Fox, but also for seasons 4 and 5, which Netflix produced with Imagine Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television (now known as 20th Television). The first three seasons of Arrested Development are also streaming on Hulu, which is owned by Disney (and which also owns 20th Television).

Streamers add and remove titles they don’t own all the time based on licensing deals. But the proposed removal of Arrested Development seasons 4 and 5 hits on a rare situation (although not unheard of) that’s becoming more common: Removing seasons of TV it made.

Netflix’s Marvel projects and several other original titles have disappeared from its platform in the past, sometimes turning up elsewhere; the Marvel shows are now on Disney+. But the removal is notable partly for it paving the pathway for Netflix as a streamer that created its own programming (it was one of the first shows that Netflix made) and its role as one of the earlier TV revivals before they became commonplace.

“‘It’s five seasons, Michael. What could it cost to maintain the streaming rights?’” @hipstermermaid asked, riffing on one of the show’s most famous jokes.

The bigger concern is about those last two seasons, which are Netflix originals but aren’t owned outright by Netflix. While the Fox seasons have had a physical release for a while, and Netflix released a physical DVD for season 4, it did not do so for season 5. If the Netflix seasons aren’t made available on Hulu (or wherever the series may end up), viewers will not be able to watch the show’s fifth season legally. Even though people might have mixed feelings about the Netflix seasons—season 4 had a mixed reception while season 5 was largely panned by critics—they’re aware of the pitfalls that come with TV shows no longer being available to anyone.

The move falls in line with a recent trend from Warner Bros. Discovery and Showtime, which have removed several original streaming titles from its platform. In some cases, those shows don’t have physical releases, so when they’re gone, they’re gone.

It’s possible that Arrested Development could remain on Netflix; as some reports have pointed out, something similar happened to Lilyhammer, a Netflix original set to depart from Netflix before a last-minute deal was made. But if that isn’t meant to be the case, you only have a few more weeks to watch the series in its entirety.
