Dad Will Run 156-Mile Ultra Marathon Dressed As Forrest Gump To Raise Money For Charity

Let’s get one thing straight: running a marathon is a massive accomplishment in and of itself. Running multiple marathons a year is quite absurd (in my non-running opinion), but nonetheless, extremely impressive. However, running an ultra marathon has to be some sort of inhuman superpower, because no human could possibly complete a race that long, right?

Not so fast. Rob Pope, a father of one, is about to run the 156-mile Marathon Des Sables in the Sahara Desert, and dressed like Forrest Gump to boot! Rob, a Guinness Book of World Records holder, previously ran 15,700 miles across the US in 2016. I’m sorry, what? I don’t think I’ve driven that much in the last year.

Anyway, Rob told StoryTrender, “I first got the idea of dressing as Forrest Gump, as he was a character who is loved by everyone. In the film you realize the amazing things he has done and the incredible strength he has – and he doesn’t complain once.”

Rob is running to raise money and awareness for WWF and Peace Direct.

“This new challenge is a continuation of me trying to raise awareness for causes I care about,” he continued. “I think Forrest Gump – and specifically the character of Forrest – is a beautiful tale of life and how we should treat one another.”

The race started on April 7 and Rob is set to return home to his daughter and fiancé on April 15.

“Forrest didn’t judge anyone, not on the color of their skin, background, intelligence or anything else. If everyone could be a bit more like Forrest, the world would be a better place,” he added. “Doing this is my attempt to make a difference. I haven’t heard from Tom yet, but he’s an absolute hero of mine, so I’d love to hear from him.”

Soph, formerly known as LtCorbis, is a vlogger who originally gained online notoreity for delivering humorous, expletive-ridden commentaries while playing the first-person shooter games Call of Duty and Counter-Strike.

History

In June 2015, LtCorbis launched the @LtCorbis Twitter feed, gathering upwards of 11,000 followers in the next eight months. On August 10th, the LtCorbis YouTube channel was created. The first video was posted on December 23rd, featuring a YouTube Poop edit of the “Here in My Garage” advertisement. On February 1st, 2016, she posted a video commenting on the controversy surrounding The Fine Brothers failed “React World” licensing program. The videos have since been removed.

On February 25th, LtCorbis uploaded a video in which she plays a surfing level in the game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive while retelling an anecdote from an experience at school (shown below). On February 29th, she posted a video titled “BuzzFeed Vs. Men,” in which she criticized a BuzzFeed Canada editor who was accused of discriminating against white male job applicants while playing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The video was since been removed.

On March 8th, LtCorbis published a video mocking those who refer to YouTube commentary channels as “Leafy clones”. On March 11th, she posted a video criticizing vlogger Jacob Sartorius for being “cancer“. The videos have since been removed.

Reception

On March 9th, Redditor Pyrocrapanal posted an LtCorbis video about originality on YouTube to the /r/pyrocynical subreddit. On March 10th, 2016, YouTuber Pyrocynical praised LtCorbis in a video regarding inauthentic vloggers on the site, gathering more than 375,000 views and 6,100 comments in the next five days (shown below).

“There’s a little girl here who is 11-years-old and she’s already mastered the art of memes and memeing and the fact that she can say this intellectual stuff at such a young age, it’s really good but really worrying at the same time. She will probably grow up and work at Reddit or something and be like a memeologist or, I don’t know, whatever intelligent kids do when they’re young.”

The following day, The Daily Dot published an article about LtCorbis titled “This sweary, savvy, 11-year-old gamer girl is the future of YouTube.” Also on March 11th, the /r/LtCorbis subreddit was launched for discussions about the YouTube channel. On March 12th, an entry for LtCorbis was created on the YouTube Wiki.

Anti-Muslim Statements

On April 2nd, 2019, YouTuber NFKRZ tweeted screenshots of LtCorbis making anti-Muslim and racist statements, calling for “mass genocide” (shown below).

On April 8th, NFKRZ uploaded a video about LtCorbis titled “The LtCorbis Racist Meltdown” (shown below).

Though rating for the show have reportedly dropped, the Browns still carry a large fan base. Youngest sibling Rain hinted at another season of the show on her latest Instagram post. 

The teenage Brown posted a picture of snow molded in the shape of a heart. She captioned the pretty pic, “Life is about purpose. Change. Chance. Love. Hard work. And most of all, God. I’m so grateful that I get to spend my life with my incredible family in the bush of a beautiful state. I never thought I would feel like I do now again. I thought my happiness was over, little did I know it was only beginning. After Dad Gets Thrown In Jail For Speeding While Rushing Baby To Hospital, Nurses Bond Him Out

When Darius Hinkle’s one-year-old daughter started choking on a penny, the first and only thing on his mind was getting her to the Touchette Regional Hospital in Illinois as quickly as possible.

During his frantic drive, Darius reached speeds up to 100MPH. He saw the blue and red lights begin flashing behind him for at least one mile, demanding he pull over, but Darius just kept on going. “That’s my daughter,” he said to himself. “I’m not going to let anything happen to her.” After all, every second counted if he wanted to save her precious life.

Just as Darius rushed into the hospital and handed his daughter off to the medical staff, a handful of police officers flagged him down — then promptly arrested him and took him to jail. Darius tried telling the officers that his daughter had been choking, hence his high speeds, but says they seemed more concerned about the fact he was speeding than anything else.

As it turned out, Darius broke a few traffic laws while rushing to get to the hospital. In addition to his speeding, he did not have a valid driver’s license.

Later that day, the baby’s mother, Donecia, went to the jail to bond Darius out — but she was surprised to find another woman had already beaten her to it.

“I’m here to bond out Darius Hinkle,” Donecia overheard the woman saying. But Donecia realized she didn’t recognize this woman at all.

“I’m the nurse from Touchette hospital,” the woman stated.

And with that, Darius and Donecia were about to learn the true act of kindness performed by this nurse, and all the nurses at Touchette Regional Hospital.

On January 10th, 2014, Twitter account @ghetttovine tweeted an image of Tyler, the Creator with the caption “When your Mom passes McDonalds and says ‘There’s food at home.'” Within five years, the tweet received more than 1,000 retweets and 500 likes (shown below, center).

How long has Team Boddie been around?

Team Boddie might be new to Street Outlaw fans, but the team has been around in the drag racing world since the 1960s when brothers Kenny and Ronnie Boddie started racing a 1956 Buick Roadmaster and a black and blue 1968 Camaro in San Francisco’s Bay View district. 

Since they got their start, the brothers now have 10 kids between them and have kept the racing legacy going strong in the family. Aleisha races for Jermaine Boddie, who’s been a familiar face on Discovery Channel ever since he raced against Birdman of Texas in House of Grudge. He later appeared on Street Outlaws in the 2017 season finale as part of Team Cali.

Street Outlaws airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Discovery.

Hero Surfers Find Baby Great White Shark Stranded On The Rocks And Refuse To Let Him Die

Every living creature deserves a chance. That’s why these guys are true heroes.

In March 2018, a group of surfers went riding the waves of Victoria Bay, South Africa when they stumbled upon a heartbreaking and rather surreal sight.

A great white shark was helplessly stranded on the rocky shore, unable to move towards the open sea and struggling to stay alive. It was cutting itself along the jagged edges and bleeding out into the water.

Since it was a baby shark, the surfers decided it was safe enough for them to get close and do everything they could to help. “It’s gonna die,” one of the men called out. “How are we going to get it out?!”

First, the surfers threw water onto the shark, hoping it would revive him. That didn’t seem to work though, and the animal continued to struggle.

With the help of nearby lifeguards, the group then attempted to hoist the shark back into the ocean. This tactic also proved futile.

Unwilling to give up, the surfers lifted the shark from the ocean and carefully placed him on one of their own surfboards. They hurried down the coast and set the shark free in calmer waters.

Lo and behold, it worked! They cheered and congratulated one another as the lucky little shark finally swam off into the distance.

It’s a rescue that deserves to be seen.
