Video Shows Rich ‘Karen’ Confused When Asked What Her Job Is

A viral video gaining traction on Twitter shows a rich Karen genuinely confused at the spectacle of work when she’s asked what she does for a living by a TikToker. In the video, the woman seems utterly confused by the question, saying that her job is that she’s “married.”

The clip begins as the Maserati-driving Karen is seen hopping out of her all-white Levante in a pair of sunglasses as she’s approached by the man recording. “Excuse me, what do you do for a living?” he asks, to which she responds with confusion, saying “What do you mean?… I’m married, why?”

The 7-second video has been shared over 60,000 times and liked over 300,000 times on Twitter, with over 25,000 other users retweeting the clip with additional comments. In a response, one user wrote, “She didn’t even understand the concept of work. Love that for her.”

The clip now circulating online comes from a TikTok originally posted by user @itsdanielmac, where the user can be heard asking various luxury car owners what they do for a living across several videos. Between Porsches, Mercedes Benzes, and in Karen’s case, a Maserati Levante, the car owners found in the video range from doctors and lawyers, to stock-traders and others who jokingly admit to “just being the valet guy.”

The series of four videos have garnered over 5.2 million likes in total on the platform so far and the page has gained 375,000 followers from the clips first posted late last month.

8 Signs You’re Crushing Hard And Don’t Even Realize It

1. You want their attention on you and only you. When you’re hanging out with a large group of people, it annoys you when they pay too much attention to someone else. You want them to laugh the hardest at your jokes. You want them to be the most interested in your stories. You want them to spend the most time with you. When it comes to their attention, you’re incredibly greedy.

2. You want to be close to them. Since you haven’t realized it’s a crush yet, you probably haven’t been fantasizing about kissing them. But you get nervous when they scooch close to you, when they touch you, when they brush up against you. You always want to be sitting in the seat next to them. You hate when anyone comes in between you. You want to stay as close to them as physically possible.

3. You’re obsessed with their style. Whenever you see them, you think about how nice they look. You love their hair. Their clothes. Their personality. Their little quirks. You might not realize it’s a crush, but you consider them someone you admire. Someone you would love to get to know better. Someone you prefer to anyone else in the room.

4. You’ve been desperately seeking their approval. You’re careful to craft the perfect texts to them because you want them to think you’re hilarious or intelligent or mysterious or a combination of all three. Whenever you get the chance to see them, you put just as much effort into your appearance. You wouldn’t dream of throwing on whatever is sitting around in your closet. You want them to see you at your best. You want them to be impressed by you.

5. You’re overly excited to spend time with them. Whenever their name appears on your phone, you get excited. More excited than when anyone else on your contact list texts you. And whenever you get the chance to hang out with them in person, you look forward to it all week long because they get you so well. And you hope the feeling isn’t one-sided.

6. You feel amazing whenever they compliment you. Or whenever you make them laugh. Or whenever you come up with a new inside joke to share. You want to have your own secret world with this person — and when anyone else comes along who gets along with them as well as you do, then you get jealous and you’re not sure why.

7. You feel uncomfortable whenever they mention a crush. You either roll your eyes because you feel like that person isn’t good enough for them or you get jealous. If they get into a new relationship, it’s hard to be happy for them because you’d rather have them be with you, whether you realize it or not.

8. You can never get enough of this person. You’re not exactly sure what you want from them, but you know you want to be around them all the time. You know you want even more from them than they’ve already given you. You know there’s something missing and you can’t quite put your finger on what that is — but it’s clearly a crush. TC mark

Twitter Won’t Allow You To Tweet Saying You Hope The President Dies

Donald Trump’s Positive COVID-19 Test has been basically the only thing anyone on Twitter could talk about over the past few days, and while there’s been plenty of schadenfreude going, with many mocking the President’s for previously downplaying the coronavirus pandemic, Twitter has stepped in to say you can’t post tweets wishing for his untimely demise.

Shortly after Trump made his earth-shattering diagnosis on the platform, Twitter clarified that “tweets that wish or hope for death, serious bodily harm or fatal disease against anyone are not allowed and will need to be removed. this does not automatically mean suspension.”

The timing of Twitter’s statement clarifying their rules seemed disingenuous to myriad black people and women who have been dealing with death threats on Twitter for years. Politicians Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib tweeted exasperatedly about Twitter choosing now to clarify their statements considering the death threats they regularly receive.

Malorie Blackman and director Ava Duvernay expressed exasperation about the policy considering the death threats they’ve received during their time on Twitter.

Twitter’s apparently sudden enforcement of their anti-death threat rule has also had a Streisand Effect on the platform, as there’s been an uptick in people creatively finding ways to put their hope for the President’s untimely end in tweets.

At the time of writing, President Trump is still in Walter Reed Hospital and has said he will be discharged at 6:30 P.M. today.

That Debate Was The Worst Thing I’ve Ever Seen

About

That Debate Was The Worst Thing I’ve Ever Seen is a phrase used in a series of viral tweets following the first 2020 U.S. Presidential Debate, made popular by Mark Hamill and other celebrities. Each tweet starts with the titular phrase, followed by a comparison to something regarded as “bad” that the tweeter once took part in. For example, “That debate was the worst thing I’ve ever seen, and I was in X.”

Origin

On September 29th, 2020, screenwriter Jeremy Slater tweeted, “That was the worst thing I’ve ever seen, and I wrote FANTASTIC FOUR” (shown below). The tweet was well-received, garnering over 619 thousand likes and 79.5 thousand retweets in 6 days.

Following Slater’s tweet, more people — particularly actors, screenwriters, and other celebrities — started posting their own renditions of the tweet. On September 29th, 2020, screenwriter Randi Mayem Singer quote-retweeted Slater, writing, “That was the worst thing I’ve ever seen, and I wrote Tooth Fairy” (shown below, left). The tweet garnered over 1,000 likes and 180 retweets in six days. Five minutes later, Sarah Watson, the writer of Disaster Zone: Volcano In New York quote-retweeted Singer’s post, garnering over 300 likes and 50 retweets in the same amount of time (shown below, right).

Chance The Rapper Explains Why He Turned Down A McDonald’s Super Bowl Commercial

In 2019, Chance The Rapper co-starred in a Super Bowl commercial for Doritos alongside the Backstreet Boys. At one point, he was apparently also supposed to be in another ad during the big game by a different food company: McDonald’s. Chance actually says he actually passed on the opportunity, however.

Designer JoeFreshGoods (with whom Chance has collaborated) responded to a tweet about J Balvin’s new McDonald’s menu item, and Chance took the opportunity to reveal a deal gone wrong with McDonald’s. He said he was supposed to be in a McD’s Super Bowl ad, but turned it down because he didn’t like the way negotiations were going. Chance wrote, “I was supposed to do a superbowl commercial with them. They played wit the money and when I said no, they hired a fake me.”

Chance has yet to clarify when these talks took place or what ad features the “fake me,” but it seems possible he’s referring to the McDonald’s 2017 Super Bowl commercial, which features a generic rapper rapping about the Big Mac while backed by a marching band. It’s also worth noting that in January 2014, Chance tweeted at the restaurant, “Let’s talk business.”

Speaking of talks Chance didn’t care for, he was critical of Donald Trump following the first presidential debate recently, writing, “The entire country has to make a decision as to whether it will continue to downplay the fact that our President is an openly racist White Supremacist and what that means for its citizens, or… VOTE HIM OUT.”

For Top Safety, Wash Homemade Face Masks

MONDAY, Oct. 5, 2020 (HealthDay News) — The homemade cloth masks recommended for slowing the spread of COVID-19 seem to expel invisible cotton fibers into the air as people talk, cough or even breathe — underscoring the importance of regularly washing them, researchers say.

In experiments, researchers found that medical-grade masks — surgical and N95 — blocked most exhaled “particles” from the wearer’s mouth. But the results with cloth masks, fashioned from T-shirt material, were surprising.

People actually emitted more invisible particles while wearing a cloth mask than with no mask at all. And that, researchers said, was because the masks released microscopic cotton fibers.

There’s no proof at this point that the fibers can carry infectious viral particles. And experts stressed that everyone should keep wearing masks according to public health guidance.

“They didn’t show that infectious particles are being released,” said Ravina Kullar, a spokesperson for the Infectious Diseases Society of America. “So it’s not clear what this means from an infectious disease standpoint.”

And certainly, she added, people would put themselves at greater risk of contracting SARS-CoV-2 if they went out in public mask-free.

William Ristenpart, the senior researcher on the work, agreed that no one should take the findings as an argument against mask-wearing.

“That’s not what we’re saying at all,” said Ristenpart, a professor of chemical engineering at the University of California, Davis.

Instead, he thinks the practical message is this: Wash your mask after each wearing. If tiny cotton fibers are released into the air, let them be as clean as possible.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other health authorities urge the people to wear a cloth mask when they are out in public, especially in places where it is hard to maintain physical distance from others.

The CDC recommends wearing masks with at least two layers of fabric, and says “simple masks can be made at home with washable, breathable fabric.”

It’s not clear, however, exactly how well such homemade masks work. No one is going to run a clinical trial where people are randomly assigned to either wear masks or walk around mask-free.
