Orthodontist Buys $15,000 Worth Of Girl Scout Cookies To Donate To First Responders

A Kansas City orthodontist decided to support local Girl Scout troops by making a deal with them. Dr. Chad Bulleigh has a lot of patients who are Girl Scouts, so he made them an offer. He posted on his Facebook page offering to buy five boxes of cookies from every Girl Scout who came in.

Dr. Bulleigh was surprised by the response. He only suspected he’d get about 20 troops to respond, but when all was said and done, over 70 troops responded. Dr. Bulleigh didn’t turn anyone away. As a result, he bought over 3,000 boxes of cookies. It amounted to about $15,000.

Since there were way more cookies than Dr. Bulleigh and his staff could handle eating themselves, he decided to spread the goodwill even further. He decided to donate the excess boxes to local first responders. “You know, I don’t regret it at all, I was Boy Scout and the Girl Scouts do great things,” he explained to Fox4KC. “And we are donating all of this to first responders who provide the security blanket that we sleep under. They are our true heroes.”

With that, the Metro Girl Scouts delivered some cookies to the firefighters at Consolidated Fire District No. 2 in Johnson County. One of the Girl Scouts, Iza George, thanked the firefighters for their hard work. “We brought these cookies here to thank you for your service because you guys work so hard to save all of us,” she said as they handed over the boxes.
