Making gingerbread houses is one of the most fun and festive holiday traditions there is. For kids and adults alike it can be a wonderful craft that brings people together. But no matter how many gingerbread houses you’ve constructed in your life or just how crafty you may be, you’ve likely never put one together that looks like one woman’s. Her name is Candy Guy — yes, that’s her real name (she says people are constantly asking her that question) and she’s basically a master of making gingerbread houses.
Candy, who lives in North Carolina, loves making the houses and has quite the operation! She uses all kinds of candy to construct them from gum drops to peppermint sticks and more. They are so beautiful and intricate. It’s no wonder she says every year they sell like “hot cakes.” She also notes that people don’t always want to go to the trouble of making the houses themselves but they love buying them from her to put them in the holiday spirit.
It’s clear that Candy really loves her craft. She says she never quite knows exactly what one will look like, so each and every one is a little bit different. Surely, people in her town know the name Candy Guy and they keep coming back to get their gingerbread houses year after year.
