Mila Kunis And Ashton Kutcher Launch Ukraine GoFundMe

“There is no place in this world for this kind of unjust attack on humanity.”

The Hollywood couple have pledged to match up to $3 million in donations, with an ultimate goal of raising $30 million. So far, the fundraiser has met half of this goal — at $15 million and climbing.

“I was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, in 1983,” Mila said in an Instagram video announcing the campaign. “I came to America in 1991 and I have always considered myself an American. A proud American. I love everything that this country has done for myself and my family. But today, I have never been more proud to be a Ukrainian.”

Mila continued, calling the ongoing crisis “devastating.” She said, “There is no place in this world for this kind of unjust attack on humanity.”

Ashton captioned the video, “While we are witnessing the bravery of Ukrainians, we are also bearing witness to the unimaginable burden of those who have chosen safety.”

According to the announcement, the goals of the fundraiser are to launch a “relief effort that will have immediate impact and supply much-needed refugee and humanitarian aid to the area.”

The funds will go to Flexport.org — which is coordinating relief supplies to refugee sites in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Moldova — and Airbnb — which is providing free, short-term housing for displaced people. Both organizations are working closely with “established NGOs” that are “actively on the ground providing immediate help to those who need it most.”

Several celebrities chimed in with their support in the comments, including Jenna Dewan and Reese Witherspoon, who said she’s “donating now.”
