After an absolutely bananas season of Love is Blind, it’s fitting that the reunion special would be an absolutely bonanza of baffling moments.
So, here are the wildest parts of the reunion special:
1.
When Shake revealed that Vanessa Lachey was “unfortunately” the only woman who he was physically attracted to.

Good on Netflix for making this the episode preview — because watching it was the moment that I realized Shake in this reunion would make my entire body cringe. I’ve seen this moment three times now and am no closer to comprehending it.
2.
When Shake said that, “Love is blurry” in response to being told that he was on the wrong show if he valued physical appearances so much.

He doubled down on this on Instagram. This has the same energy of any one of my middle school Facebook statuses.
3.
When Shayne told Shake to “shut up.”

Honestly, inspiring to see the cast’s common disdain for Shake throughout the reunion.
4.
When Deepti said that the cast warned her about marrying Shake.

Natalie implied that Shake was even worse than what we saw on the show. CAN YOU IMAGINE?
5.
When Iyanna called Shake a “narcissist” and said that he should see a therapist after seeing how he treated Deepti.

Therapy is great and most people should do it — and that’s all I’ll say on that.

Pretty much any time Shake went full villain.

At many points this season, I genuinely thought that Shake would be going for the redemption arc. I will be discussing this with my therapist.
7.
When Nick and Vanessa Lachey got involved in knocking Shake down a peg or two — specifically Vanessa saying that he was on the wrong show, and Nick saying that he didn’t think Shake knew how to treat humans.

Of all the time I’ve spent watching Love is Blind, this is the first time I’ve understood why Vanessa and Obviously Nick Lachey might be good hosts — or why there are hosts at all.

When Kyle said that he wished that he proposed to Deepti.

Now, Deepti told me that she was torn between Shake and another guy in the pods — was she referring to Kyle? Or is Kyle just saying this based on what he thought of the show? FWIW, she also told me that she was currently single. Time to break out the conspiracy theory string like that Always Sunny meme.

When Shayne addressed asking Shaina what she was wearing in the pods — in front of Natalie.

Shayne’s answer was cut short because Shake kept prattling on, at which point Shayne looked as if he wanted the ground to swallow him whole.

When Shayne and Natalie revealed they tried dating after the show.

Did Shayne spend some of his $2,000 monthly food budget on meals for them?

When a conversation between Shayne and Natalie about their final fight led to Natalie in tears — and Shayne suggested that Natalie was pinning all of the blame onto him.

Now, I did not care for Shane’s relationship with Natalie. In short, telling someone (especially, you know, your fiancé the night before your wedding day) that you HATE THEM in an argument is unacceptable. As a viewer, it made me concerned that this might be a bigger indication of how he approaches arguments behind closed doors and the kind of respect he holds for his partner. So, quite frankly, I don’t care what Natalie did (short of like, cheating or stabbing someone) — few things can justify that kind of language. Why should she have to apologize?

When Vanessa began to ask Shayne about him and Shaina — and the air went out of the room as Shayne dodged the question.

Shaina clarified that nothing happened between her and Shayne while he sat in the most painful silence I’ve ever witnessed. He actually addressed the dating rumors on his Instagram before the reunion even aired, but if I didn’t have that context I would 100% assumed that they went to bone town right after filming.
13.
When Jarrette maintained that his comments towards Mallory in Mexico were an “inappropriate” joke.

I THINK HE WAS BEING PRETTY SINCERE HA HA I AM JOKING. At least he apologized.
14.
When Iyanna said how “hurtful” it was to see Jarrette and Mal’s footage, but that none of her “anger” went to Mal.

Good on Iyanna for saying this — Jarrette was the one who made a commitment to her, but it can still be unfortunately easy to heap all the blame onto the woman.
15.
When Iyanna revealed that she and Jarrette got it on in Mexico.

I know that this is contrary to a lot of reality TV, but good for them for revealing it when they felt comfortable.
16.
When Danielle said Nick is now up for dancing on tables — as well as doing other things on the furniture, as, in the words of Natalie, “it’s the only way to test it.”

Nick clarified that it was actually the granite kitchen counter, which honestly sounds worse.
17.
When Shaina said that she felt “manipulated” after Kyle gave her his mother’s ring.

I think what Danielle and Nick did — start with the standard LIB engagement ring then change to a family heirloom — was a way better call.

When Shaina said that she shouldn’t have accepted Kyle’s proposal.
