Lonely 91-Year-Old Veteran Thinks He’s Eating Alone Again, Taken Aback When Server Won’t Leave

Lisa Meilander doesn’t usually make her Facebook posts available to the public, but she recently witnessed something so incredible that she couldn’t help but share it for all the world to see.

It was on a Saturday night when Lisa and her family sat down at the Eat’n Park restaurant in Rostraver, Pennsylvania — right across from an elderly man who was all by himself at one of the booths.

Lisa watched as one of the servers approached the man’s table to take his order. He then crouched down at the customer’s level so he could better hear the soft-spoken man.

She overheard him apologize to the server for being so hard-of-hearing. He casually explained how he lost his hearing while fighting in WWII and that he’d forgotten to wear his hearing aids that day.

The server learned the man, known as Frank, is a 91-year-old World War II veteran with many amazing stories to tell.

The server, Dylan Tetil, is a 24-year-old radiology student who’d been working at the Eat’n Park for three months and had never seen Frank before.

Again, Lisa heard Frank apologizing. This time, it was for talking so much. He told Dylan that he’s all alone now and it’s not often he has someone to actually talk to.

Dylan kindly helped Frank decide on what to order for dinner, then disappeared to the back of the restaurant so the cooks could start preparing the meal.

After Frank got his food, Dylan returned — and he had a very important question for Frank.
