Princesses just want to have fun! That’s just what Princess Charlotte did when greeting photographers at the King’s Cup Regatta this week. The 4-year-old came to see the crowd from a window with her mother. Instead of her usual smile and wave, Charlotte surprised Kate Middleton and all the onlookers by sticking her tongue out.
The cheeky moment shows the spirit of the young princess. Many people have commented on how she’s already quite charming for her age. The silly moment didn’t upset the Duchess of Cambridge, who laughed it off. The media was equally shocked to see Kate wearing shorts at the event, as they are typically against royal protocol. She and Prince William were skippers on competing boats in the event on the Isle of Wight in England.
Princess Charlotte and Prince George cheered their parents on as they competed. Charlotte was wearing a blue-striped dress with a white-collar. George wore a black and white striped shirt. Prince Louis also attended the event, but wasn’t seen by the public.
Prince William’s boat came in third out of eight, while Kate’s boat came in last after being disqualified in the last race. Ever the good sport, she was all smiles as she was awarded a giant wooden spoon for her loss. The winner of the event was celebrity outdoorsman Bear Grylls.
