I didn’t like turgut in emotional scenes, till this day what stops me from rewatching one particular season of Ertugrul, is because it has the story arc of his torture at the castle. I felt like it was too depressing because his expressions consisted of one look and his voice seemed monotone. Repetition is my biggest pet peeve. It took me out of the show a few times.

I loved Turgut more in other story lines. My fav was when he became bey of Aislans tribe and they had that hurdle of him feeling left out of the council because aislan would fall into old habits of being the lead. He portrayed this very well, his eyes alone said a lot.

Ali yar was the greatest thing to come out of that tribe for me. He and Ertugrul had the same essence.

What are your opinions on turgut and the torture story line. How did it make you feel generally if anything, aside from the obvious of not liking it. Because who likes torture.

For context, when Konur alp was tortured by frig and ismihaan with the poisonous rats on his back, I wasn’t taken out of the scene. His acting was superb I viscerally felt his anxiety as the things were placed on his back and when left alone to suffer. His expressions were like it really happened, the way he shook on that table, never felt so bad for someone as I did in that moment.
His eyes alone spoke volumes.

Same with Ertugrul when his hand was nailed by noyan, and the entire aftermath of his struggle and vulnerability to nurse it back to health. He showed a range of emotions, from dealing with the bully like comments regarding his injury, ppl seeing him as less than, to his own concern of not holding a sword again. All of it delivered well and with a range of dialogue and expression that wasn’t repetitive.
