While the video was praised by some, such as the New York Post, it was mocked by social media users as an example of cringeworthy Millennial culture. The video spread on Twitter when it was reposted by user @femcelgirlboss, who captioned it, “i am losing it to be quite frank,” gaining over 6,000 retweets, 13,000 quote-tweets, and 60,000 likes (shown below).

The quote-tweets to @femcelgirlboss’ post came primarily from people commenting on the awfulness of the video. Examples include a post by @userbfly, who commented “the boomerization of Millenials,” gaining over 300 retweets and 3,000 likes (shown below, left). User @antifuckboys tweeted, “i just can’t imagine sitting there, writing these lyrics down, recording this video, watching it back, and still choosing to post this online. mind blowing” (shown below, right).
