Episode 132: Some Thoughts, 1/4
I might be biased because I love Yunus Emre and the actor portraying him but this scene was my favorite part of the show.
Especially because I watched this episode with a heavy heart (because of certain world events) and Yunus Emre’s words here – his recounting of Prophet Eyyub’s (Job in English) story – touched my heart, evoked pent up emotions, even brought about a semblance of relief.
It was thought provoking and it made me look at Prophet Eyyub’s (May Allah be pleased with him) story from a new perspective. (It had details I had never heard about and I will probably try to find out the sources in the next few days)
It was after 80 years of prosperity that he went through a period of extremely difficult trials & his iman was so strong and his heart was so filled with gratitude that he bore everything without complaining – and it was ONLY after the disease started to affect his tongue and he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to do Allah’s dhikr that he actually supplicated for cure! 🤍🤍🤍
I also loved how he said to Bala that while Sabr is highly valued by our Creator, we shouldn’t become so comfortable with it – so focused on afterlife – that we stop praying for worldly wellbeing, stop looking for cure…
