During the time when Mawlā ‘Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib was the Amīr ul-Mu’minīn (Khalīfa), he would often wear a certain shawl over himself. When someone asked him about this shawl, he replied:

“This was presented to me by my humble friend, ‘Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb. He expressed humility in the obedience of Allāh and Allāh accepted his obedience.”

‎Thereafter, Sayyidunā ‘Alī al-Murtaḍā started crying.
