The Young and the Restless alum doesn’t have any children… yet. “Eventually, I want to find that beautiful, wonderful partner in crime… I want to have kids,” Shemar said in 2017 while responding to a question about his relationship status. “When I have kids, I think it’ll bring out the kid in me again… I want to have my ride or die — I want all of that.”
In a separate interview, the former model reiterated his desire to settle down at some point. “I want to be a family man,” he told Watch! magazine. “I want to be a father, I want to have a partner in crime, a woman to share [my life] with. I want to continue to evolve, I want to continue to take the next step in my life.”
One of the reasons Shemar left his leading role on the police procedural Criminal Minds after 11 seasons was to make time for his non work-related passions. “I need balance in my life,” he explained to TVLine in 2016.
“I love what I do for a living, I love it from ‘action’ to ‘cut,’ but I also want to walk my dogs, travel, get married, have kids. I want balance, and it’s hard to do with the schedule that we have.”
