Bayern Munich vs. PSG: Preview, starting lineup, odds, injuries
Preview
Bayern Munich has won all ten of its matches in Champions League this season. The Bavarians also won the Bundesliga by 13 points, for its eighth straight domestic title.
Robert Lewandowski has scored 49 goals in 40 games as a 32-year-old. People are still buzzing about Alphonso Davies’ amazing run and assist from its 8-2 dismantling of Barcelona last week. Everything is clicking for Bayern Munich, though it’ll be interesting to see how Davies and fellow fullback Joshua Kimmich deal with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe’s pace.
PSG has finally reached the big game. This was the goal when Qatar Sports Investments bought into PSG in 2011. The “establishing dominance in France” part of the project has certainly been a success. Champions League success, however, has been fleeting up until now.
In its first eight seasons under new ownership, PSG was ousted in the quarterfinals four times and the Round of 16 three times. That’s even after breaking the world record transfer fee, a staggering $263 million, for Neymar.
But coach Thomas Tuchel can get PSG a trophy on Sunday. PSG has the talent, depth, and playing style to go head-to-head with the Bayern juggernaut. It’ll ultimately hinge on Neymar and Mbappe, great players who must step up to match what Bayern will bring.
