Cafeteria Worker Earns Overtime All Year For Sick Baby, Then Leads Mom Into Her ‘Storage’ Room

Jessie Tendayi works in the cafeteria at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Chicago. But she also moonlights as an angel in disguise.

One day, back in 2009, Jessie decided to stay at work a little longer than she needed to. It was around Thanksgiving, and she figured she could use the extra money to buy gifts for some of the children at the hospital.

It started as a simple gesture. But Jessie was so happy to see the smiles on the young patients’ faces that she made it an annual tradition.

Now this kindhearted cafeteria staffer works overtime year-round, picking up extra shifts and working late. Using money from her own pocket, Jessie buys as many toys as she can for the sick kids who are stuck in the hospital during the holiday season.

Not only does she shop for and collect the toys herself, but she stores them in her own home. Boxes and boxes of gifts fill multiple rooms until it’s time to transport them to the hospital and let the kids pick whatever toys they want.

In this video, watch the tear-jerking moment Jessie brings one very grateful mom and her sick daughter into her “Toy Shop.”

The look on the mother’s face is priceless.
