Who Won MrBeast’s ‘Finger on the App Challenge’? The $25,000 Winner

Popular YouTuber MrBeast is back with another social challenge. This time, to win a grand prize of $25,000, all you have to do is keep your finger on your phone screen for as long as you can. The last person with their finger still on the screen wins the grand prize.

MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, launched this one-time challenge through an app, called Finger on the App. The challenge, which started at 3 p.m. ET on June 30, is only expected to last for a little more than a day.

What is the ‘Finger on the App’ challenge?

To participate in the challenge, players needed to download the app, which only launched on the Apple app store a week before the challenge was set to begin.

The idea is to hold your finger on your phone for as long as possible. If you open another app or even activate Siri, the app will remove you from the challenge. This means your phone is utterly useless for as long as you participate.

Finger on the App boils down phone use to its minimalist core, and yet, for the hours or even days this contest runs, your phone can provide utterly no utility so long as you play,” the app’s manifesto reads. “… As our attention spans flee, Finger On The App demands utmost devotion to a total absence of distraction: a game where you can’t do anything.”

According to MrBeast’s Twitter, over a million people participated in the challenge.

Despite the challenge’s message, conveying just how attached to our phones we are, MrBeast clarified to The Hollywood Reporter that the countless hours we spend on our phones aren’t necessarily a bad thing.

“You have so much information at your fingertips, so hopefully, you spend some time learning and researching things that interest you,” he told the outlet.

The grand prize of $25,000 isn’t MrBeast’s largest reward for one of his quirky challenges. In 2019, he held a challenge where participants had to keep their hand on a prize of one million dollars. The last person to remove their hand would win the cash prize.

Who won the ‘Finger on the App’ challenge?

At this time, it doesn’t look like there’s been a winner announced, as there are still players competing.

At 10:15 a.m. ET on July 1, Mr. Beast tweeted that there were still a small number of players competing out of the millions who initially participated.

“It’s only been 19 hours and only 200 people still have their finger on the app!” Mr. Beast tweeted.

Even though no one has won the challenge yet, MrBeast is already talking about potentially doing the challenge again. One of his Twitter followers recommended he redo the challenge for a prize of $500,000, to which MrBeast replied he “might.”

But for now, it seems like there are still players competing to win the $25,000.
