The Internet Braces For the End of Yo Mama

After nine years on YouTube, one of the most cringy and yet wholesomely close to many-a-zoomer’s heart shows on the internet is coming to an end. The show’s creator Zack James has announced that the final episode of the long-running series will be out within few weeks.

The sad announcement came in on June 18th from Brody Foxx, the show’s Chad-like virtual host.

The show, which started in 2011 as a sister project for James’ Animeme channel, lasted for a total of nine years, with the channel accumulating nearly 5 million subs and one of its videos nearly topping 100 million views.

While for many the channel has been the staple of some of the cringiest humor you can find on the internet, in the last couple of years, Yo Mama enjoyed a wave of post-ironic revival. It appeared as if Gen Z, who watched Yo Mama as kids, were coming back to show some love for the show through memes. In the past few months Yo Mama, speaking through Brody Foxx, also expanded it’s presence on Twitter, weighing in on the KEEMSTAR vs. Ethan Klein Feud and the 2020 protests among other things.

The announcement of the series end sent some shockwaves through Twitter, iFunny and more:

But before the series end, some more episodes are coming our way.

Like so Brody can see!
