Taylor Swift Announces ‘Folklore’ Concert Film for Disney+

Taylor Swift just announced a feature-length concert film for her new album Folklore, and it’s dropping just after midnight on Nov. 25.

“It’s an album that allows you to feel your feelings, and it’s a product of isolation,” said Swift in the trailer for folklore: the long pond studio sessions. Due to the album being released in the middle of the pandemic, this will basically be the opposite of high-octane concert movies like Beyoncé’s Homecoming. It looks cosy and low-fi, filmed with Taylor Swift and her band at Long Pond Studio, a remote location in upstate New York.

Swift is also credited as the film’s director. Arriving on Disney+ at 12.01am PT, Nov. 25, it will feature all 17 tracks from Folklore, along with some interviews with Swift and her collaborators: Aaron Dessner (The National), Jack Antonoff (Bleachers) and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver).

The overall vibe here seems very chill and low-key; an appropriate choice for a chaotic year when many people will be spending the holidays alone. As Swift put it, “It turned out that everybody needed a good cry—as well as us.”
