Rick Moranis Has Been The Victim Of Unprovoked Attack Caught On Camera In New York City

In the late 90s, Rick Moranis took a step back from acting so he could focus on raising his children after his wife passed away.

This past year, however, fans were happy to see him return to their screens when he starred in a Mint Mobile commercial alongside Ryan Reynolds.

But the 67-year-old actor known for his roles in “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” and “Ghostbusters” is back in the headlines, and for a truly heartbreaking reason.

Moranis was walking down the street on the Upper West Side of Manhattan when he was attacked by a total stranger in broad daylight.

Security cameras captured the morning’s unprovoked attack, showing a man in an “I Love NYC” sweatshirt walking right up to the actor and sucker-punching him in the head.

Moranis quickly fell to the ground with his back up against the wall — as the unknown suspect continued along his way as if nothing happened.

Moranis sustained head, back and hip injuries, but was able to walk to the local police department to report it.

There has been an uptick in crime throughout New York City and other reports of random, unprovoked attacks.

The NYPD Crime Stoppers posted about the incident on Twitter, offering a $2,500 reward for any tips that lead to the suspect’s arrest.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
