People Are Loving The Creative Way This High School Dance Teacher Takes Attendance

A Spanish high school teacher in Texas has his students hitting more than just the books. Trevor Boffone is the dancing teacher at Bellaire High School who takes attendance by hitting dance moves, like The Woah, with his students.

Trevor, who’s been a teacher since 2008, has always danced with his students as a way to connect with them. It wasn’t until he started teaching at Bellaire High School in 2018 that he started making viral videos of the dancing moments.

“When I started working at Bellaire High School in 2018, Dubsmash was launched as a dance app, and so my students were interested in Dubsmash, and I was like, ‘What’s happening, what are these things?’ and so they started teaching me the dance moves and we started making videos,” Trevor said.

Trevor and his students have gone viral quite a bit and have an impressive Instagram following of about 200,000.

Dancing with his students helped him bridge the cultural gaps between him and his students and got him through a hard start to the school year.

“My father died the first day of school, so I began the year just totally burnt out,” he said. “I didn’t want to be here. I didn’t want to teach anymore. And it took my students saving me to fall in love with my job again and we did that through dancing.”

Trevor hopes his videos will help other teachers learn to connect with their students. Watch this dancing teacher and his students hit some seriously impressive moves in the video below and try not to smile!
