Mom Tries To Raise $65K So 6-Year-Old Son Can Fulfill Lifelong Dream Of Eating A Cupcake

Before you start scratching your head and think, “Who needs $65,000 to eat a cupcake?” take a moment to hear about 6-year-old Jude Carrington’s heartbreaking story.

Ever since Jude was 10 months old, he’s been unable to eat anything because of a condition he lives with called eosinophilic colitis. According to the American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders, “Eosinophilic colitis is a rare disease in which a type of white blood cell, the eosinophil, causes injury and inflammation to the large intestine.” The past couple years, Jude has been on a feeding tube, and all he wants is to be just like his classmates and friends at school. Particularly, he wants to know what it’s like to eat a cupcake.

Mom Jo, who lives with Jude in the UK, told Caters News, “Jude has never tried a birthday cake, he has never had an ice cream on holiday, he has never enjoyed a Christmas dinner. But the main thing he’s desperate to try is a cupcake.”

That is absolutely heartbreaking!

“He has seen his friends eat them as a treat or when celebrating and this is something he is yet to have,” she continued. “We have to give him a bottle of frozen water for lunchtime at school just so he can feel involved on the dining experience with his friends. He absolutely hates it and gets very upset that he can’t eat like everyone else. There have been times when I can’t even eat because I just look at him and see devastation in his eyes and it breaks my heart. When we raise enough money to go to America, we hope Jude will fulfill his dream and will try a cupcake.”

To help Jude achieve his dream of trying a cupcake, you can donate to his JustGiving crowdfunding page.
