Man Arrested Following Video Showing Him Ignoring Stay-At-Home Order

Cincinnati police arrested the man responsible for a video showing him and others gathering on Friday night—blatantly disregarding Ohio’s stay-at-home order.

Authorities arrested the narrator of the now-viral video, Rashaan Davis, on Vine Street on Saturday afternoon and charged him with a misdemeanor, Cincinnati.com reports.

Documents say police requested a high bond for Davis.

The local police department told WKRC that Davis’ offense was particularly “egregious,” as his video encourages others to defy Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s stay-at-home order.

“This is how we do it in my city, man,” Davis, 25, says in the video. “We don’t give a f*ck about this coronavirus.”

The video, which depicts large groups not following social distancing guidelines, first surfaced on Saturday morning. People are seen dancing, standing on cars, and drinking.

In a text message to WWMT, the Cincinnati Police Department says it responded to the gathering Davis touted on YouTube. “We are exploring various options for addressing this incident as well as possible future incidents of this nature, to include fines and physical arrests if necessary,” the department says.

Governors across the nation have issued stay-at-home or shelter-in-place orders in order to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus. DeWine announced on Thursday that the state’s stay-at-home order is now extended through May 1.
