Mahlon Reyes’ Wife and Family GoFundMe Organized After Star’s Passing

Sad news. Deadliest Catch star Mahlon Reyes passed away at the age of 38 due to a heart of attack. “On Sunday night our family together made the hardest choice we’ve ever made and that was to remove him from life support. Mahlon’s body was tired and had put up an amazing fight. He was the strongest guy we knew,” a Facebook tribute page read explaining that doctors and nurses attempted to revive Mahlon, but he had suffered “irreversible” brain damage from lack of oxygen. 

The post continued, “Shortly after midnight on July 27th he passed with his brother and mom right by his side. His oldest kids, some of his best friends were all with him as well although they couldn’t be by his they were there as well. He was surrounded by so much love.”

The deckhand passed away just one day after he was rushed to North Valley Montana Hospital in Whitefish, Mont. Discovery Channel released a statement, saying, “So sad, he was so young. Our thoughts and prayers to his family.” 

Currently, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help Mahlon’s wife and his children.

In an email interview with USA Today, Mahlon’s wife Heather Sullivan wrote that the family his “recalling fond memories” of the late star to help cope with this “impossible situation.”

“We laugh and remember all the funny stories and have been surrounded by an amazing group of our best friends and family,” she told the outlet.. “I am in awe of the people that he touched just by his positive attitude and smile.” Adding, “He was my rock and I was his.”

A GoFundMe page was set up to help the family during this difficult time. “This sweet family lost a dad and husband unexpectedly. It’s been such a tragedy and anything would help even if it’s a simple share or a prayer. Please help them grieve in a time of need,” the page stated. The fundraiser was set up by Chantel Gann on behalf of Heather Sullivan. 

At this time, the GoFundMe account has exceeded its $10,000 goal and has raised almost $15,000. 

According to Heather, Mahlon will be cremated and his ashes will be given to his best friends to disperse in the Bering Sea and in Montana’s Swan Range mountains. The widow told USA Today that this is where “he and his brother would snowcat.” Adding, “These are two of his favorite places.”
