About

Jonathan Galindo, also known as Cursed Goofy, is a character depicted as a man wearing a Goofy dog mask and is associated with the Blue Whale Challenge, particularly the resurgence in 2020. Typically, anonymous users will create profiles using the name “Jonathan Galindo” in conjunction with various images of Cursed Goofy and then message people on social media platforms asking them if they want to play a game, referring to the Blue Whale Challenge, which shares similarities to the Momo Challenge. If they refuse, the user will threaten to doxx them unless they agree to participate.

Origin

The images used in the profile pictures of these accounts originated from cosplayer and mask designer Samuel Canini, who uses the moniker Dusky Sam, and date back to at least 2012-2013 (seen below).

The original Jonathan Galindo is unknown, but the account responsible for the latest resurgence comes from TikTok user jonathangalindo54, who registered the profile in the fall of 2019 (shown below). Since this profile was created, numerous clone accounts have appeared across TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, Discord and more, messaging users on these platforms and encouraging or threatening them to participate in the Blue Whale Challenge.

Answer: It is basically the Blue Whale Challenge but with an individual named Jonathan Galindo and is posting on many social media sites, though hearing discord is a first for me, he has appeared in random people’s private messages in Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. I do not necessarily believe they know your IP, however, Jonathan does threaten the victim with basically the Blue Whale Challenge. The profile pic actually belongs to someone (I forget at the moment), who basically specializes in creating realistic masks of anamorphic creatures.

On July 7th, YouTuber Terivent uploaded a video to their channel (seen below) where they engaged in a discussion with one of the users on Discord, receiving nearly 200,000 views, 9,100 likes and 2,700 comments.

Samuel Canini Reaction

Since the photos of his Goofy cosplay became associated with Jonathan Galindo, Canini released a statement on Twitter (seen below) where he claimed that he had no involvement with their current use propagating the Blue Whale Challenge.

Dusky Sam @DuskySamCat Hello everyone. This Jonathan Galindo madness seems to be terrorizing a great many young impressionable people. The photos and videos are mine from 2012- 2013. They were for my own weird amusement then, not for some modern day thrillseeker looking to scare and bully people. Text Font Line Organism
