James Dean Will Star In A New Vietnam War-Era Film Thanks To CGI And People Are Not Thrilled

James Dean is a full-blown cultural icon. His performances in Rebel Without A Cause and East of Eden are ones that will never be forgotten. One of the too many stars who were taken from us too soon, the actor died in a car crash in 1955 at the age of 24. Now, Hollywood is looking to breathe new life into the actor’s career.

With today’s technological advancements, Canadian VFX banner Imagine Engine and South African VFX company MOI Worldwide will work together to recreate James’ likeness for a new film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Finding Jack is slated to be a Vietnam War-era action drama, directed by Anton Ernst and Tati Golykh. Their production house, Magic City Films, has obtained the rights to use James’ image from his family.

We’ve seen a lot of possibilities for bringing back performers who have passed on within the music industry. This seems to be the first time that Hollywood will posthumously cast an actor for a role. It isn’t sitting well with a lot of people, however, from fans of the late actor to other members of the Hollywood community.
