Inmates Caught On Security Cam Trying To Deliberately Contract COVID-19 To Get Early Release

Los Angeles Sheriff Alex Villanueva says the department is trying as hard as possible to prevent the spread of the coronavirus throughout the jail system. Currently all new inmates are being tested upon arrival.

In mid-April, officials at the North County Correctional Facility in Los Angeles noticed an uptick in coronavirus cases among their inmates.

In an effort to trace the virus, authorities started digging into the prison’s surveillance tapes.

They stumbled upon a very disturbing exchange that took place between some of the inmates.

Officials watched in shock as a group of male inmates were seen drinking from the same bottle of hot water (despite each inmate having access to their own cup and hot water) and taking turns breathing air through the same mask.

Authorities didn’t think it was coincidental that 21 men living in the same module of the prison (and the same area where the bottle-sharing occurred) tested positive for COVID-19 within one week.

It’s now believed that the inmates were trying to infect themselves with the coronavirus on purpose, thinking that if they were diagnosed with COVID-19, they’d be granted an early release!

Were these inmates using the hot water to raise their temperatures and bring on a fever?
