“Mama June” Shannon was arrested for felony drug possession last week.
The 39-year-old was taken into police custody at a gas station in Tuskegee, Alabama last week. Mama June now faces possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia charges. The substance in question appeared to be cocaine, according to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office. Officers found needles, a marijuana bong, a glass pipe with white residue, and a pill bottle filled with crack cocaine, WSFA reports.
Mama June stars in Mama June: From Not to Hot, which just kicked off its third season on WE TV at the beginning of March. WE TV confirmed the arrest with a statement to USA Today.
“We share our viewers’ concerns for June Shannon and her entire family,” WE TV said. “We are monitoring events as they occur.”
No word yet on what this means for the show, which documents Mama June’s life after losing 300 pounds.
June’s boyfriend, Geno Doak, was with June at the time of the arrest. He was arrested on the same charges, in addition to domestic violence. He was overheard threatening June, outlets report.
Both of them were released on bond shortly after their arrests.
June originally rose to fame as the mom of Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, who had her own reality TV show on TLC.
