A recent gender reveal party in California is to blame for sparking one of the ongoing wildfires. Officials have said that a “smoke-generating pyrotechnic device” was used at the party and sparked the El Dorado Fire in San Bernadino County. According to a press release, the fire started Saturday morning at around 10:23 a.m. at the El Dorado Ranch Park in Yucaipa and spread rapidly. It has now grown to over 8,600 acres and is only about 7 percent contained, officials say.
The fire spread from the park to the north onto the Yucaipa Ridge which separates Mountain Home Village and Forest Falls from the City of Yucaipa. It’s an incredibly unfortunate event, but now, state officials say that the family responsible may actually have to foot the bill! Bennett Milloy, a spokesperson for California’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, told the Daily Mail that those costs will very well be in the millions.
That’s one expensive gender reveal party.
