Firefighter’s Widow Gets Message From Late Husband Days After His Death That Brings Her To Tears

Troy and Lori Jackson met and fell in love in high school. All Troy ever wanted was to marry Lori and one day become a firefighter.

Troy achieved both of those things. He was a loving husband, father of two, and 30-year veteran with the South Metro Fire Rescue in Colorado.

Troy loved being able to save lives and protect his community, but his passion is what ultimately took his life. Troy was diagnosed with adenoid Cystic Carcinoma in 2014, a type of cancer that is quite common among firefighters and those who spend a lot of time in and around smoke, fumes, and carcinogens.

In December 2019, Troy passed away at the age of 51 from the cancer he developed on the job. His ceremonial last call took place at his funeral.

Then on Christmas Day — about one week after his death — Lori received the most precious and unexpected gift.

She nor her children had any idea that Troy left behind a voicemail as part of an ethical will.

Lori received the one-minute-and-16-second message on Christmas Day, her first Christmas without her beloved husband.

What he said brought her and her children to tears.
