Family Who Threw Gender Reveal Party At Park Left Behind Tons Of Blue Litter, Sparking Outrage

Colorado Open Space Ranger Maggie Krause was doing her work on a beautiful Monday morning, completing a survey of a public park. Little did she know the rest of her day would be spent cleaning up the remnants of one family’s gender reveal celebration.

Maggie wanted to spend her day chatting to park-goers about local wildlife, or responding to calls of concern. But then she discovered thousands of tiny pieces of blue crate paper, completely covering a walking trail.

The paper was supposedly left behind after folks at a gender reveal party blasted blue confetti all over the ground, but never took the time to clean it up.

Maggie knew she was the one who’d be tasked with the clean-up, and that it would take her a really long time.

She was right; it took her at least four hours out of her 10-hour shift to clean. Thankfully, another ranger and helpful hikers stopped to help throughout the day.

Jeffco Open Space posted a photo of the blue mess to social media and sparked anger throughout the community and beyond.

“Littering is littering, regardless of your baby’s gender! If you choose to have a gender reveal party, please do so in a way that does not harm the environment,” Jeffco Open Space wrote on Facebook. “This little celebration is a violation of regulation C.14. Litter: It shall be unlawful to deposit or leave any refuse, trash or litter in or on Open Space Lands except by depositing such refuse, trash or litter in designated waste receptacles.”

The park is now asking the public to help them find whoever left their trash behind.
