Dad Sneaks Out Of Work To Surprise Son At First Christmas Show, But His Plan Backfires Miserably

Hey, it’s the thought that counts, right?

An adorable video of a father surprising his son at his first Christmas performance is making the rounds on the internet, and it’s safe to say that some parents will probably relate to it pretty hard. Or maybe not. I don’t know; I don’t have kids — do children normally burst into tears when they see their parent’s face in the crowd at their first-ever Christmas show performance?

Dareious Rogers, a 24-year-old who works in the hospitality business, doesn’t get to go to too many of his son’s events because of his work. However, Dareious thought his 2-year-old son, Mason Alexander, would be totally happy and excited to see him if he surprised him at his Christmas performance.

But since this is 2018 and you can’t trust anyone (even your own parents, apparently), when Mason spotted Dareious in the crowd, he burst into tears — in front of the entire crowd.

Dareious said, “He was happy to see me because I surprised him; I don’t get much time with him because my job is in another city.”

He added, “He did not enjoy the rest of his performance and just stood there once I calmed him down.”

Aww, poor Mason! I’m sure he was just overwhelmed with emotion.

And don’t worry, Dareious, there will be plenty more performances!
