Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are the friendliest pair of exes ever!
The actor took to Instagram on Sunday to pay tribute to Jen (as well as his own mom, Christine Anne Boldt), in honor of Mother’s Day. His message was quite heartfelt and personal.
“Happy Mother’s Day to the two incredible mothers who have shown me the meaning of love,” the Triple Frontier star wrote alongside one photo of the two women walking together and another of himself as a child with his mom.
Ben went on to explain that he would be making two charitable donations that day in honor of his mother and his ex-wife.
“Today I am making donations to two organizations in their honor: @cut50’s #DignityForIncarceratedWomen campaign, a national initiative to help reduce the prison population while making our communities safer, and @NationalBailout, an incredible organization that works with groups all over the country on Mother’s Day to bail out black moms and caregivers, provide supportive services and fellowship opportunities to help end money bail and pretrial detention,” he wrote.
Ben and Jen — who share 13-year-old daughter Violet, 10-year-old daughter Seraphina, and 7-year-old son Samuel — have been amicably co-parenting since their split. The two married in 2005 and announced their separation a decade later. Despite publicly splitting, the pair didn’t file for divorce until April 2017. It was finalized in October 2018.
Earlier this year, Ben praised Jennifer’s mothering skills once again.
“When somebody’s’ the mother of your kids, they’re going to be the most important central person in your life, and that’s good,” he said during a March appearance on the Today show. “I hope I’m a pretty good dad. I certainly try very hard. I’m lucky they got a great mom, and she helps out a great deal with making sure that we co-parent in as good a way as possible.”
