Ariana Grande Shows off her Naturally Curly Hair From Quarantine

With salons, barbershops, and spas considered nonessential businesses—and, therefore, closed across the country—one of the decidedly lesser complications of coronavirus quarantine is staying groomed while stuck at home. And in the spirit of the expression “celebrities, they’re just like us,” Ariana Grande also seems to have hit pause on her regular beauty regimen.

The pop starlet is rarely seen in public without her trademark ponytail, eyeliner, and perfectly manicured nails. However on Tuesday night, Grande appeared in an Instagram video in which she showed off a more natural look, including her natural hair. Wearing minimal makeup and using a filter to make it appear as though three purple butterflies were resting on her face, Grande revealed her curly locks with a dyed-blonde streak.

Suffice to say, this look is definitely shorter and different than what we’re used to seeing on her. For almost all of Grande’s career, she’s worn her hair straight. (Although, she did wear it natural when she appeared in the coming-of-age Broadway musical 13, in 2008.)

However, when Grande made the jump to Nickelodeon to star in the tweenie bopper series Sam & Cat, the role required her to straighten and dye her hair red every other week.

In a 2014 Facebook post, Grande revealed that she began wearing wigs and extensions after the regimen severely damaged her hair.

Clearly, as evidenced in the Instagram video, Grande’s hair has since repaired itself, but she’s continued wearing wigs and extensions, regardless.

Perhaps this will be a “come to Jesus” moment for Grande because her fans and fellow celebs seem to be digging the new look.

“Yes curls,” commented Austin Mahone, adding a heart-eyes emoji.

Katy Perry also asked the star to “keep this look after quarantine.”

Others had similar sentiments on Twitter:

Perhaps when all is said and done, self-isolating might wind up being responsible for a natural-look trend on the other side. No complaints here!
