All 10 Family Members Who Attended Birthday Celebration Get Coronavirus

According to CBS Philly, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia released its first patient with COVID-19 to come off a ventilator. Now the circumstances surrounding that patient’s diagnosis and recovery are making headlines.

It all started at a birthday dinner for Mike and Kelly DeWan’s four daughters. In addition to the family of six, all four grandparents were there, too.

Not long after the gathering, Mike started experiencing the flu-like symptoms. Two days later, so did Kelly … and then both of their daughters … and then both sets of grandparents.

Mike was eventually taken to Penn Presbyterian, where his condition only got worse. His lungs were failing.

For the next 17 days, Mike was hooked up to a ventilator.

It’s been reported that many people placed on ventilators do not survive. According to USA Today, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has said that only 20% of COVID-19 patients who are put on ventilators “will ever come off”  — an absolutely staggering statistic.

Mike fought his way back to health. Meanwhile, Kelly took care of the rest of the family while battling the illness.

Now Mike is said to be the very first COVID-19 patient at his hospital to come off the ventilator alive…
