Full disclosure: I am that person who starts listening to holiday music a tiny bit before Thanksgiving, and who maybe hangs up Christmas decorations (just a few!) on the fourth Wednesday of November. So when it comes to conversations about all things holiday, I can get into it.
Which is why I was aghast to see the results of a new British poll that asks: “What is the most annoying Christmas song?” Why, you ask? Our brethren to the east have placed the ultimate Christmas classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey in the number one spot.
I’ll grant you that Mariah’s Christmas anthem is often played excessively this time of year, and that perhaps it’s been used in one too many holiday films, but what other song immediately puts you in the Christmas spirit? What other song can you hear and instantly know that the next four minutes and two seconds are going to be filled with joy and all that is merry and bright?
