While it’s unclear when Home Depot added the giant skeleton to their stock, it began to generate attention in early September of 2020. On September 7th, Popsugar ran a piece about the massive skeleton. It retails for $299.
Spread
Towards the latter half of September, the skeleton began gaining more attention. On September 23rd, Twitter user @dysdandy tweeted, “cannot stop thinking abt the giant skeleton at home depot and the 12 ft void I have in my life without him,” gaining over 80 retweets and 270 likes (shown below, left). On September 26th, user @carbsley tweeted, “apparently this is a home depot skeleton you can buy and now it’s my only goal of 2020 to have my very own skelly,” gaining over 70 retweets and 460 likes (shown below, right).
Others made fan art and parodies of the giant skeleton. For example, user @shardofblue posted art which made the skeleton look like a Home Depot employee, gaining over 100 retweets and 350 likes (shown below, left).
