The holiday season, for all its merriment and joy, can also be very stressful. If you have a big family and a lot on your plate, you may find that getting everyone the perfect gift is overwhelming.
In times like these, many people will lessen the load by giving gifts of cash or, more popularly, gift cards. A gift card can seem like the perfect solution, allowing the recipient to spend them on something they really want without the gift-giver going crazy trying to figure out what that is.
Gift cards come with a few issues, however. For one, they’re easy to lose. They’re also typically displayed out in the open in stores that sell a large variety, which leaves them open to tampering.
The Better Business Bureau warns of all the risks associated with gift cards, including a new scam that can devalue them before you’re able to gift them to the recipient. Thankfully, the BBB has issued guidelines that will help keep consumers safe while doing their holiday shopping.
